Die Gewinner des IDEA (Industrial Design Excellence Award) 2004 stehen fest (Gesamtübersicht). Wie immer gab es auch dieses Mal ein paar sehr nette und ausgefallene Sachen zu bewundern.
Un-Bathroom
Eine Falt-Toilette für Notfälle und für schnelle Hilfe bei humanitären Einsätzen, um die sanitären Verhältnisse schnell zu stabilisieren.
This temporary toilet for use in emergency situations or remote locations is fully recyclable and biodegradable. It ships flat and can be air dropped or shipped in quantity. Plastic liners may be sealed for sanitary disposal; after the liners are used up, the base may be burned as fuel.
Circular Printer
Designstudie für einen wirklich platzsparenden Drucker.
This circular-type portable concept printer responds to a real need for business travelers and challenges engineers to make it a reality. Using rotational, instead of linear, movement to obtain a truly portable design, printer size is reduced by one-third.

Die Verpackung kann mitgewaschen werden, liefert dabei das Waschmittel und löst sich zudem rückstandsfrei auf.
Packages shaped like tank tops and boxer shorts leave little chance that the shopper will pick up the wrong item. Once home, the entire package goes right in the wash, thanks to a packaging material composed of dissolvable cornstarch and a small amount of detergent.
